Amanda Alexander

Amanda Alexander is a lecturer in the Thomas More Law School at the Australian Catholic University. Her research concerns the history of the laws of armed conflict and its transformation into international humanitarian law. Her work examines the way in which extra-legal discourses interact with the systems and language of international law to change the provisions and the understanding of international law. Amanda completed her PhD at the Australian National University, writing a thesis about the history of the idea of the civilian in international law. She also has a LLM in Legal Theory and History from University College London and an BA(Hons)/LLB from the University of New South Wales.
