Laura Betancur Restrepo is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). She works on issues related to international legal theory, history of international law and legal education. Currently she is working on the strategic uses of international law in the Colombian peace negotiations. Her book, La tensión entre lo jurídico y lo político: Cuestionando la juridicidad de la mediación internacional, was published with Ediciones Uniandes in 2018. Laura is a lawyer and a philosopher and has a PhD in Law from the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). She also has a DEA (Diplôme d’Études Approfondies) in International Law and International Organizations from the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (France) and a DSU (Diplômes Supérieurs d’Université) in Public International Law from the Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas University (France). Laura was previously the director of the Master in International Law and the coordinator of the Master in Peacebuilding at the Universidad de los Andes.
